Editor's blog Monday 18 October 2010: Labour's shadow health team confirmed

I'm pretty sure HSJ had the names last week, but the portfolios have been released this afternoon.

Unsurprisingly, John Healey will shadow health secretary and liberator Andrew Lansley.

TV doyenne, Labour leadership candidate and disbeliever that "blonde, blue-eyed Finnish girls" can nurse black peopleDiane Abbott will shadow the areas Ann Milton, public health minister is responsible for; plus health inequalities, which is not identified in any ministerial brief.

Former human rights barrister in Michael Mansfield's chambers and environmentalist Emily Thornberry will shadow the areas for which Paul Burstow is responsible; plus the “NHS workforce, including pay and pensions” part of Simon Burns’ brief

Ex-whip and education and transport junior minister Derek Twigg will shadow all other parts of Simon Burns’ brief.

Ex-NHS Confederation ambulance network lead, ex-Kings Fund wonk and ex-SpAd to Patricia Hewitt Liz Kendall will shadow the areas for which the Earl Howe is responsible; and support the work of other members of the shadow team as necessary.

It should all be quite lively.
