Editor's blog Monday 18 October 2010: An interesting update: £2 billion for social care?

BBC News' Laura Kunessberg reports an anonymous briefing that an extra £2 billion funding for adult social care will be announced on Wednesday at the Comprehensive Spending Review.

And I think I know where most of it might be coming from.

Is this the right move? Probably. As Nigel Edwards pointed out, failing social care is another cost pressure on the NHS.

What will be essential is to ensure that this money is spent in the most effective manner. Is there a Cochrane equivalent for social care? Des investing in prevention work?
